Currently 7 left however more are being made on a daily basis.
Pouches:
Made from 2.5-2.8mm veg tan tooling leather, moulded, hand stitched with a proper saddle stitch and dyed in various colours with either contrasting or matching stitch colours (other colours available at request)
Each one supplied with an altoids sized tin complete with tinder, fire steel closure, and my own special strikers.
Fire steels: 8mm
Laid into a trough rather than stuck into a handle on the end. Meaning you get to use the entire length of the steel. It also gives the steel itself support preventing it from snapping when worn down.
Even without a steel in it, the handle still holds the flap shut, so wearing it down isn’t an issue.
Strikers:
Made from reclaimed Stanley knife blades and set into a handle.
Once the fire steel is flush with the trough, use the rounded end to continue striking it, once the steel is gone, simply glue a new one in.
Strikers also have a grove down either side and a round cut out exposing the blade, this is designed to be used with the supplied jute twine candles, simply fray the end of the candle, lay it in the grove, and strike. (see picture) It normally lights the candle first time…
The cut out itself also offers an advantage when throwing sparks onto a standard tinder pile as the sparks are forced into a concentrated area. (easily tested with a standard flat striker and a bit of white paper)
Tinder:
All kits will have a selection of either birch or cherry bark, jute twine candles, and if i have them, a bit of cramp ball.
D Moulds –
I bought this and an axe holster for a 50th birthday present and they were excellent. Really good quality finish and a unique personal gift. Would highly recommend to anyone as something a bit different and really very well made.
